Favorite looks for Easter!

by Hilary
Easter Sunday is one of my favorite holidays! It signals the arrival of spring, and a transition to warmer and softer colors. As a mom, I delight in making my kids work for their reward as they search through the yard for those prized eggs. Each egg holds only a few jelly beans, but you would think they were filled with gold based on their enthusiasm. Or the grand prize, a solid chocolate bunny for the lucky kid who finds it (and has to share!). I love Christmas too, but it seems so easy with everything on display under the tree just waiting to be torn in to. Easter provides nearly as much excitement for a fraction of the cost or effort, and makes them work a little for it. And the weather is generally warmer! My second son was born just days before Easter, so needless to say, I didn't have time to put much together. And so began our tradition for many years of going to the Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI for their Egg Hunt and Egg Roll on the croquet lawn. Their brunch is more on the formal side and required us all to get a bit dressed up. If you are headed to church or a dressier affair we have several options for you. My absolute favorite choice is the Wrap Dress in the Spring Tea print from Thimble Collection. The toile style print features a leaping bunny, but doesn't scream Easter so you will be able to wear it right through the summer. Another favorite is the Jennifer Dress is Multi Colored Gingham. It looks perfect paired with the Plush Bunny Bag from Meri Meri. For boys, try the Oliver Trousers from Egg New York paired with the Boys Airplane Shirt from Mayoral. We also like the trousers paired with the Madras Plaid Woven Shirt from Tea Collection for a short sleeve style. Last year, we decided to change the pace and stay home on Easter morning. We did an egg hunt in our own yard and met up with family later in the day for Easter dinner. It also meant a more casual style of dressing. For girls I love the Old Rose Pink Corduroy Dress paired with the Peter Pan Collar Top in Pink Dots from Dotty Dungaree. We also have many new arrivals coming from City Mouse, but right now my favorite is the Muslin Flutter Sleeve Dress in Midnight paired with the Legging Pant in Dandelion Field from Thimble Collection. For boys, I'm staying with the Oliver Trousers from Egg New York, but pairing it with their Harrison Polo. And for super casual, you can pair Mayoral Boys Basic Slim Fit Jeans with the Blue Dot Shirt from Me & Henry. Finish off the look for boys or girls with a pair of Cienta Laceless Canvas Sneakers. Available in Navy, Coral, Mint, or Grey they pair perfectly with outfits for boys or girls and give them the traction and comfort they need to score big at the egg hunt!
